Since 2005, the Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation has been working to help those in need throughout the area. They have awarded more than $7 million in aid to agencies that target
a variety of issues in Glynn, McIntosh and Camden counties.
Now the public charity is again looking to help those in the greatest need. The Foundation is currently seeking applications for the 2017 Community Impact Grant Cycle. The area of focus this year includes early childhood literacy; teen pregnancy; juvenile crime and gang activity; high school graduation; youth development and innovative education strategies; and risk reduction, including child protective, substance abuse and mental health services. “The focus of ‘at risk youth’ was determined from a Community Needs Assessment and feedback from key community leaders and organizations,” said Ellen Post, the Foundation’s grants and operations manager. “Working through local nonprofits the Foundation funds credible programs with a potential for successful outcomes.” Grant proposals submitted may request up to $5,000. Grant guidelines and applications may be accessed through the Foundation’s website at www.coastalgeorgiafoundation.org. Applications are due by Feb. 28.
The Foundation now has assets approaching $17 million and hosts more than 60 distinct funds. For more information regarding grants, contact Ellen Post at 268-2561 or epost@coastalgeorgiafoundation.org.
