Thank you for your thoughtful coverage of Georgia’s Community Foundations in the August 2016 issue. The Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation is still quite young in this field, so it was very kind of you to showcase our philanthropy.

Safe Harbor Children’s Center, a Brunswick-based nonprofit offering shelter and therapeutic services to children who have been abused, abandoned or neglected and those who are homeless or have run away from home, was the recent recipient of a $25,000 donation from the Rich’s Consumer Brands Charitable Fund, a new philanthropic arm of Rich Products Corporation’s Consumer Brands Division (CBD), on St. Simons Island.

The Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation awarded a community impact grant in the amount of $4,000 to The Gathering Place. The grant will support The Gathering Place’s annual summer college tour, which provides rising high school seniors the opportunity to tour a wide range of academic and technical colleges across Georgia. The program also assists these students with the preparation of college applications and provides ongoing support during their college years.

At its June meeting, the Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation voted to award grants, totaling $62,000, to 16 different community-based organizations serving Glynn,Camden and McIntosh counties.

The Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation recently awarded a grant to STAR Foundation Inc. to provide support for a community outreach coordinator position. The individual will work with local nonprofits, schools and agencies to increase student participation in the program. STAR Foundation teaches computer and life skills toward selfsufficiency and successful transition to the workforce.

At its June meeting, the Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation voted to award grants,totaling $62,000, to 16 community-based organizations serving Glynn, Camden and McIntosh counties. The 2016 competitive grant cycle focused on programs serving at-risk youth and their families.

The Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation recently began delivering its 2016 Community Impact Grants. The week of June 13 alone, they delivered to CASA Glynn, Safe Harbor Children’s Center, The Gathering Place, STAR Foundation, the Glynn County Board of Commissioners and Juvenile Court, Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia and Children in Action Sports Club.
